Cherry Almond Chocolate Smoothie

This week I’m coming to you with a simple smoothie recipe that is a powerhouse of nutrition and will keep you satisfied for hours!

Let’s take a look at the health benefits of my smoothie ingredients:

1. Cherries

These little beauties contain antioxidants, have cancer-preventing compounds, reduce inflammation, and relieve arthritis pain. They also reduce belly fat and lower the risk of stroke, among other things. (I’m only including 1/3 cup in this recipe to keep the total sugar content down.)

2. Spinach

Spinach is high in minerals and vitamins. It helps control blood glucose, lowers cancer risk, reduces blood pressure, improves bone health, lowers asthma risk, and more! And it has a mild flavor so you won’t even notice it in the smoothie.

3. Almond Butter

Almond butter is a healthy fat, which is great for your brain and helps keep you satisfied longer.

4. Raw Cacao Powder

Raw cacao powder is high in antioxidants, high in magnesium and calcium, is a mood elevator and anti-depressant, has more iron than any other plant, and more! I’m adding this extra punch of chocolate to the chocolate protein powder in the recipe just because I love chocolate. You’re welcome!

5. Superfood Powder

Camu Camu powder is high in vitamin C and antioxidants. It also boosts immunity, promotes emotional and mental wellbeing, supports the nervous system, reduces inflammation, is anti-viral, protects against liver diseases (including liver cancer) and more! It has a tart taste.

Goji berries are high in antioxidants, boost immunity, fight cancer, promote healthy skin, protect eye health, stabilize blood sugar, help detoxify the liver and they help improve your mood. This powder has a sweet taste.

Cherry Almond Chocolate Smoothie

Ingredients-

1 cup almond milk (I like the Silk brand, unsweetened)

Handful of spinach

1/3 cup frozen dark sweet cherries

1 Tbsp almond butter

Serving of chocolate 100% grass-fed whey protein (like this) or plant-based protein (like this

1 Tbsp raw cacao powder (I use this one)

1 tsp camu camu powder (for tart taste) or 1 Tbsp goji powder (for sweet taste)

Directions-

Put almond milk in high-speed blender. Add in spinach and blend until finely chopped. Then add frozen cherries and blend until finely chopped. Add in the almond butter, protein powder, cacao powder, camu camu powder (or goji berry powder). Blend until smooth and creamy. Enjoy!
